Course details: The child protection training that practitioners need to complete is now joint adult and child safeguarding being delivered by Ground Work North Wales/ WFIS Childcare Team.

This training is for early years and childcare staff who are in the 1 staff member to every 10 children ratio set out by the newly updated National Minimum Standards.

Intermediate Safeguarding Children courses help to increase existing safeguarding knowledge and teach more about what is involved in the safeguarding process. The course shows how to identify abuse and report concerns as well as learn more about the safeguarding structure, recognising risks and what happens after a referral to social care has been made.

Required roles

For employees who work directly with children.

  • Nursery Assistants
  • Nursery Room Leaders
  • Assistant Managers
  • Play worker
  • Transport Driver
  • Volunteers (dependent upon level of supervision)

All new requirements concerning Safeguarding training in the National Minimum Standards must be met by the end of November 2024.
