Course details: This course will help in understanding the behaviours of children in your care to enable you to support their development.
All children benefit from developing secure attachments with their parents/caregivers; however some children sadly develop insecure attachments due to the abuse and adversity they have experienced. This could result in children developing various survival attachment behaviours and developing a negative internal working model.
The training will help you to understand:
- The negative impact of neglect and abuse on children’s development and their relationships with others.
- The range of difficulties that children can develop following early adverse experiences (ACEs).
- Different attachment styles and how to recognise these and the responses needed to these attachment styles.
- Explore ideas about safety to support children that have had early adverse experiences and how a PACE approach can be used in childcare settings.
