You can apply for approval to temporarily switch off permanent traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.

An approved switch off/switch on application gives permission to temporarily switch off permanent traffic signals during works, for example at a pedestrian crossing or at a junction.

The switch on/switch off can only be done by an approved Wrexham County Borough Council operative.

Cost to apply to switch off traffic lights

The cost to apply to temporarily switch off permanent traffic signals is £86 per action within working hours (8am – 4pm), or £115 per action outside of these hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What happens next?

When you submit your request it will need to be assessed to ensure all the required details are complete. When your request is approved an email will be sent with a link to make the payment for the permission to temporarily switch off/switch on traffic lights. Once payment has been made, arrangements will be made accordingly.
