Neurodivergent Person Centred Planning Drop-in every Wednesday 10am-12pm at the Wellbeing hub, where you can chat, discuss issues and find out where to get further advice or support. 

The Friendship Hub

The Friendship Hub was created by people with disabilities to give people the opportunity to make friends and organise meet ups together. They arrange trips to the cinema, bowling, meals out and meet up weekly to chat and plan.

Project management team – individual support

This team offers neurodiverse individuals bespoke support on lots of topics, including:

  • Friendships/relationship training
  • Mindfulness
  • Budgeting help
  • Sex education
  • Cooking skills
  • Daily living skills

Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN)
How we work with our settings, schools and colleges in Wrexham to support children and young people with ALN.
Support for parent carers
You are a parent carer if you provide care to your child because they need extra support (due to a disability or additional needs - whether diagnosed or not).
Unpaid carers
If you provide unpaid care to someone who cannot cope without your support due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, you are an unpaid carer.
Wrexham Safe Places Scheme
This scheme provides reassurance to people who may feel vulnerable when they go out, helping them to live more independent lifestyles.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board: Neurodevelopmental Occupational Therapy Team (external link)
Wrexham based service, providing support for children aged 5-18 years (with/or awaiting a diagnosis) who are experiencing significant difficulties with their functional performance.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board: School Nursing Service (external link)
This service provides general advice and support for children aged 4 up to 18 and their families, including guidance on issues which can be related to neurodiversity; including sleep / anxiety / behaviour.

To become a member of this group all you have to do is attend an event and show a letter of diagnosis (or confirmation of being on a waiting list)

A small charity based in Llay, Wrexham that supports young people with autism (with or without a diagnosis) and their families.
STAND North Wales (external link)
A not for profit community interest company that represents children and young adults with additional needs and disabilities in North Wales.

North Wales Integrated Autism Service 

This service offers support within the North Wales region, including Wrexham. 

They offer:

  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments for adults (those aged 18 and over) who meet the criteria to be assessed.
  • Workshops that support autistic individuals to understand their diagnosis better and explain what community services are available.

If you are a member of our libraries service you can ask staff at any library in Wrexham County Borough to help you find books about neurodiversity.

Money (financial support)

GOV.UK: Personal Independence Payment (PIP) (external link)
Payments to help with extra living costs for individuals with a physical or mental health condition, or long-term disability.
GOV.UK: Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children (external link)
Payments towards the extra care costs of looking after a child who has difficulties walking or needs more support than a child of the same age who does not have a disability.
