Local land charge searches are used to find any restrictions and legal obligations affecting a piece of land, as part of the conveyancing process.
We (Wrexham Council) have a statutory duty under the Local Land Charges Act 1975 to maintain a Register of Local Land Charges.
You can request a search enquiry response through the following methods:
1. Submitting a local authority search
Searches can be submitted by post and document exchange (DX) or online via The National Land Information Service (NLIS).
When submitting a postal Local Authority Search, make sure you include the following:
- Form LLC1 in duplicate
- Form CON29 in duplicate
- The correct fee (see fee schedule below)
- A plan which clearly marks the outline of the area to be searched against in red and shows the surrounding roads/properties
Payment
Payment must be made the same or following working day to validate the application. The easiest way to pay is through our online e-store.
A payment receipt is automatically emailed to you for your records, as well as being sent to us so that we can start to process your request.
Alternatively you can call 01978 298874 to pay by card. For other payment options please contact landcharges@wrexham.gov.uk.
Turnaround times
The current turnaround time for searches is 7-10 working days.
We do not charge a separate fee for expedited searches, but should a search request be considered urgent please contact the land charges team and we will aim to give the search priority.
