Each councillor is elected to serve a ward (a specific area or community in Wrexham County Borough). They represent the residents in their ward in the running of the council.
You will need to make sure you are familiar with the ward boundaries so you know which areas you are seeking to represent. There are some requirements for standing for election, including specific types of connections to the area you want to represent.
You can use this tool to check electoral boundaries in Great Britain (select ‘Unitary Authority Electoral Divisions’ from the boundary options to show wards)
How many areas can I stand for election in?
If you have a connection to more than one local area you are able to submit multiple nomination papers. However if you have more than one nomination accepted you must then withdraw from all but one ward. This is because you cannot stand for election in more than one ward.
