Air quality reports

As a local authority we (Wrexham Council) have a duty to inspect air quality in our area. This is so we can determine whether the air quality meets the standards and objectives set by the Welsh Government.

We submit air quality reports on an annual basis and publish them once the Welsh Government has accepted the conclusions.

Part A1 processes

Part A1 processes are defined as processes that have the potential to pollute water, land and air. Natural Resources Wales regulates these processes. To view the Part A1 process public register contact Natural Resources Wales.

Part A2 and Part B processes

Part A2 processes have a reduced potential to pollute than part A1 processes and we (Wrexham Council) regulate these. Part B processes are those with a potential for polluting and only to air; we also regulate these processes.

Report smoke nuisance

We will investigate any complaints about a statutory smoke nuisance whether they are from a domestic bonfire or a commercial/industrial property such as a building site. 

For smoke to be classed as a statutory nuisance it needs to either:

  1. Unreasonably, substantially and frequently interfere with the use or enjoyment of a home or other premises
  2. injure health or be likely to injure health
