Disabled on-street parking

The Blue Badge scheme is not a licence to just park anywhere. There are many locations that you are not allowed to park under any circumstances; check the parking arrangements for your destination beforehand.

In general the scheme allows the following parking benefits as long as your valid Blue Badge is on display, badge holders:

  • may park free of charge without time limit at parking meters and 'pay and display' on-street parking unless a local traffic order specifying a time limit for holders or blue badges is in force
  • may be exempt from limits on parking times imposed on other users
  • may usually park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours in Wales

Disabled parking in Wrexham Council town centre car parks

Most of our car parks have designated disabled parking spaces and anybody with a valid Blue Badge may use these or other car park spaces.

Blue Badge holders can park for free in any space.

Shopmobility also has its own dedicated spaces for use by the Shopmobility customers.

Enforcement officers monitor the use of Blue Badges closely and they have the right to issue a penalty charge notice to any vehicle not correctly displaying a valid badge when using the parking concessions. A ticket will also be issued to any vehicle parked in a designated disabled bay without displaying a Blue Badge, even with a valid pay and display ticket.

Please remember that the rule which allows Blue Badge holders to park on yellow lines on the street does not apply in council owned car parks.
