Timed to coincide with Wales’s first appearance at an international football finals since 1958, this exhibition chronicles the heroic endeavours of the Wales’s greatest footballers. On December 18th 1986, the last tub of coal was wound to the surface at Bersham Colliery. With the closure of the last pit in the Denbighshire coalfield, a centuries-old tradition came to an end. This exhibition tells the story of coal mining through the history of one pit, that although often threatened with closure, outlasted many larger and more modern collieries.
