LEAN and the Environment: What is LEAN and why should I consider learning more?

LEAN + the environment: What is LEAN and why should I consider learning more? This workshop will give you a general overview of the tools available to a LEAN practitioner and how these tools can be used in any setting to identify issues and provide suitable solutions that can help drive productivity and reduce costs. LEAN is already very popular amongst in a production & manufacturing setting but you will learn how it can also bring benefits to a more traditional office setting. You will also learn how LEAN techniques when applied in conjunction to positive environmental attitudes and practises can have beneficial results in driving efficiency, improving profits, demonstrating good social responsibility and can help any management team to understand the processes they manage, the impact they have and simple ways to implement change that is supported by thorough investigation and analysis of the problem. This is a taster workshop, in which you will learn about what tools are available to the LEAN practitioner wanting to make positive environmental choices however it is not intended for someone already established in applying LEAN or 6Sigma control techniques.

Grand Gala Concert in Aid of Wrexham Maelor Hospital

Operatic Countertenor Kieron-Connor Valentine presents a Grand Gala Concert in aid of Wrexham Maelor Hospital at Capel Bethel Chapel in Ponciau, Wrexham on January 26th at 7pm. Acts include Kieron-Connor Valentine (Countertenor), Erin Fflur (Mezzo Soprano), Ysgol I.D Hooson, Cor Daw, Wrexham County Choir and street dancer Tom Hughes Lloyd. Admission is £4, to be paid on the door.

Holocaust Memorial Day 2018

The theme for this year is ‘The Power of Words’, with this in mind, we’re bringing together community leaders such as the Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor John Pritchard, Bishop Peter Brignall, Eric Ngalle Charles a poet from Cameroon who has taken refuge and inspiration in Wales, LGBT speaker Kate Hutchinson. The latter two speeches will be condensed into poetry from Voicebox locals Peter Rogers and Natasha Borton. During the morning there will an opportunity to view an exhibition, containing information about the Holocaust and subsequent genocides, alongside creative writing from Glyndwr University students, and an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of those who lost their lives and also take part in the two minutes silence. Guests are invited to eat together after the event, from light refreshments inspired by the countries and cultures persecuted during the Holocaust.
