Are you Digital Tax Ready?

The end of the tax return is nigh… digital tax is set to become a reality, and very quickly. From 2018 interaction with HMRC will become increasingly digital, with the self-employed and most businesses using Cloud accountancy software packages (apps) to record business activity. Spreadsheets will no longer be the norm, instead the software will link directly to your business bank account so that transactions are automatically captured and included within your accounts on a daily basis. No more receipts clogging up your desk drawers, you can now take a photograph of your petrol receipt and upload it direct to your accounting app; updating your records in seconds. No more preparing sales invoices to be sent in the post, instead you can create and send them directly to your clients from your phone, and your sales figures will be updated instantly within the software. And you will never have to worry about back-ups of your accounting software again! See your accounting figures 24/7, 365 days a year all from your Smart Phone. HMRC issued ‘Making Tax Digital’ in 2015, announcing these big changes for 2018 and eventually becoming fully digital by 2020. You now have a two year time frame to move from the desktop to a cloud package, so don’t delay. To help make the process to digital tax smoother, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers Ellis & Co have teamed up with NatWest to hold an event entitled ‘Are you Digital Tax Ready’. Join Ellis & Co’s John Moorhouse, NatWest’s Digital Expert Ben Brown, and Paul Crosby from accountancy software provider Sage, as they explain the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of digital tax. The event will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at Rowton Hall, Chester from 8am - 10am. Tickets for this event are free, but you must register your attendance here.

Timed to coincide with Wales’s first appearance at an international football finals since 1958, this exhibition chronicles the heroic endeavours of the Wales’s greatest footballers. The right of a Wales team to exist has often been questioned and its stars refused permission to play; however, the team has become one of the unifiers of Wales and its star players – John Charles, Ian Rush, Ryan Giggs and Gareth Bale, some of the most famous Welshmen in the world. The eventful story is told through the artefacts and archives of the Welsh Football Collection.

The Last One Standing: The Tale of Bersham Colliery

On December 18th 1986, the last tub of coal was wound to the surface at Bersham Colliery. With the closure of the last pit in the Denbighshire coalfield, a centuries-old tradition came to an end. This exhibition tells the story of coal mining through the history of one pit, that although often threatened with closure, outlasted many larger and more modern collieries. In association with the North Wales Miners Association Trust.
