NLP: The Leader's Secret Weapon

CMI Cymru in association with Glyndwr University, Wrexham is pleased to present our latest Leadership event for North Wales, presented by Laura Evans of Unleash Your Potential. This event starts at 6pm with time for refreshments and an opportunity to network. The workshop will run from 6.30pm until 8.00. NLP: The Leader's Secret Weapon •43% of UK managers rate their own line manager as ineffective •Ineffective management is estimated to be costing UK businesses over £19billion per year in lost working hours This session is designed as an introduction to Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for managers, leaders, directors & business owners who want to help their teams get even better results During this session you'll learn: •What NLP is (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and how can it help you and your business •How to consciously build rapport and therefore make being a leader easier (you’ll learn how to build rapport with anyone, even people you don’t like!) •How to identify our employees/clients 'preferred' language and use this to tailor our conversation in a way that better works for the listener •Understand how our values determine what people focus on, spend time on and how they motivate us. Learn how to use a knowledge of values to motivate and inspire those around us. •How to tailor our interactions so our communications land more effectively (e.g. big picture vs. detail, whether they favour sameness or difference etc) •To spot individuals preferences and utilise them to influence more elegantly (e.g. do they have a tendency to ‘towards' what they want or 'away from what they don’t want; are they are literal or inferential speaker or listener) The workshop will be fun, interactive, and full of practical takeaways that you can put into practice in your business straight away. You don’t need any prior knowledge of NLP or communication skills, simply come with an attitude of curiosity and a willingness to learn!

ERLAS WALLED GARDEN TALK TO CIVIC SOCIETY

"A HISTORY OF THE ERLAS WALLED GARDEN" is the topic of a talk being presented by the Wrexham Area Civic Society. The garden, described as a "hidden jewel" set on either side of a small valley as part of the Bryn Estyn Estate, has been in existence since before 1838. Derelict wall and surviving buildings have been restored, and new facilities built. An orchard, plant nursery, nature trail and a wheelchair-friendly terraced garden have been created. All this has been carried out by a charity, whose aims are to assist those with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds, by providing training opportunities. Since 2002 the Charity has raised £1.1million in funds, and involved volunteers, schools, colleges and local interest groups, in addition to adults with disabilities. There are plans to transform the garden into a major community resource centre. The speaker is to be Ann Morton, who is the Charity Officer. All are welcome, the meeting is free to attend. For more information about the Society please come to the meeting, or see the Society's website www.facebook.com/wrexhamcivic, or feel free to contact the Secretary, Nick Roe, on 01978 263982.

Chamber St David’s Day Charity Ball

Returning for the third time, the renowned Chamber Annual Charity St David’s Day Ball is set to light up your social calendar with its arrival on Friday the 3rd March. Held at the beautiful and luxurious Quay Hotel, overlooking the beautiful Conwy Estuary, the night promises to be one of elegance, great company and exquisite dining – It is certainly not to be missed! The St David’s Day Charity Black Tie Ball Event is generously being sponsored by Cullimore Dutton, a celebrated and highly successful legal firm, incorporating traditional values with a modern outlook. Following tradition the Ball will support a deserving charity that will be chosen in due course by our Focus Group, with all the proceeds from the evening being donated at the end. Guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling rosé on arrival at the breath-taking venue, all before sitting down for a delicious gourmet three-course meal, with hot beverages and mints to follow. In traditional form the fantastic Charity Auction & Raffle will follow suit, with after dinner entertainment still to be announced. Attending last year’s Charity St David’s Day Ball, Scott Burns, Dealer Principal at Evans Halshaw Ford Bretton said “Having booked a table of 10 for me and my colleagues the Ball was a fantastic opportunity to socialise as one in the surrounds of the beautiful Quay Hotel. Breaking the stereotype of a ball, the evening was a fun filled night made even better by the fact we raised so much money for charity!” If you or your company would like to donate a prize for the charity auction or raffle, please contact Jenny Davidson on j.davidson@wcnwchamber.org.uk. Any Members who donate a prize will be included in the programme on the evening and also feature in the next edition of the Chamber’s Quarterly Magazine. Dinner Menu The Starter will be a delicious Roast tomato & red pepper soup, served with lightly golden croutons and pesto (V) Main course offers a mouthwatering option of Braised shoulder of Welsh lamb wrapped in Parma ham, minted mashed potato, root vegetable stew and fresh crisp carrots. Our vegetarian guests will be served a risotto of tomato, Mediterranean vegetables & mascarpone cheese, crisp parmesan, courgette fritters Dessert will be a delicious Rich chocolate truffle, orange three ways, honeycomb, salted chocolate & shortbread Finally, tea, coffee and after dinner mints will be served. Touched by Greatness: The Story of Welsh International Football

Timed to coincide with Wales’s first appearance at an international football finals since 1958, this exhibition chronicles the heroic endeavours of the Wales’s greatest footballers. The right of a Wales team to exist has often been questioned and its stars refused permission to play; however, the team has become one of the unifiers of Wales and its star players – John Charles, Ian Rush, Ryan Giggs and Gareth Bale, some of the most famous Welshmen in the world. Chamber Lunch at MacDonald New Blossoms Hotel

The Chamber of Commerce is delighted to invite you to join us at our upcoming Lunch and Networking Event, generously co-hosted by Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, Chester. The event is being held at the traditional venue, situated in the heart of Chester’s city centre. The periodic building natural charm and location makes it a city favourite, and a must visit! It’s the perfect way to begin networking and grow your contacts within the Chamber and the wider business community. Alongside promoting awareness of your business with like minded people in your local region. Guest Speaker- Dean Paton Our guest speaker for the afternoon will be Dean Paton- Managing Director of Big Heritage. Dean grew up in the Wirral and began his career by running bars and pubs, later deciding to peruse his passion for a career in archaeology. Dean graduated from Chester University and then continued upon this by taking his Masters at Oxford University; during his time completing his Masters, Dean worked in a care home- it was during this time that the idea for Big Heritage was born. Dean initially started Big Heritage as a way to bring archaeology to children in socially deprived areas, explaining the history of their own towns and cities to them, something that they were able to appreciate. Big Heritage now offer more services such as working on heritage projects, community archaeology projects and taking his knowledge and skills to schools to educate and inform in a fun manor. He found that he was able to help people connect better with heritage through explaining it in different ways; after gaining support from the University of Chester, Dean was able to set up the business within an office at the Riverside Innovation Centre in Chester. The menu for our 2 course lunch is still to be advised but with the renowned food reputation of Blossoms it promises to be delicious! We hope to see you at what promises to be a fantastic event! Breakfast & Networking at Costco’s

The West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce are joining forces with the team at Costco to host a Round the Table Networking Breakfast where guests will have the opportunity to get together, meet new and fellow Chamber members as well as strengthen business connections across the region. Costco will be generously co-hosting the event with us and will be providing refreshments to all those who attend before the networking fun begins. The Round the Table networking events are one of the Chamber’s specialty events, as it is networking with a twist! Each table is appointed a Captain and individuals at the table have to share their story, before swapping seats and starting over. It provides a fantastic opportunity to swap business cards and speak with a number of delegates in a fun, friendly and informal setting. Costco are also offering FREE GIFT if you wish to register for a Costco membership card at the event, plus they will give details of an opportunity for delegates to have an exhibition stand on one of their trade days and the chance to promote your business on their notice board for a month, a fantastic opportunity for you to reach 1000’s of people. The Last One Standing: The Tale of Bersham Colliery

On December 18th 1986, the last tub of coal was wound to the surface at Bersham Colliery. With the closure of the last pit in the Denbighshire coalfield, a centuries-old tradition came to an end. This exhibition tells the story of coal mining through the history of one pit, that although often threatened with closure, outlasted many larger and more modern collieries. In association with the North Wales Miners Association Trust.

The right of a Wales team to exist has often been questioned and its stars refused permission to play; however, the team has become one of the unifiers of Wales and its star players – John Charles, Ian Rush, Ryan Giggs and Gareth Bale, some of the most famous Welshmen in the world.
