How to vote

Voting at the Polling Station

If you are registered to vote, you will receive a polling card around 1 month before the date of the election.

On the day of the election, go to the polling station specified on your polling card, any time between 7am and 10pm. You will be asked to confirm your name and address, or you can hand in your polling card. You don’t need your polling card to vote though, so don’t worry if you lose it or forget to take it with you.

You will be given a ballot paper. Put an ‘X’ next to the name of the candidate you wish to vote for. Do not put any other marks on the ballot paper, or your vote may not be counted.

Voting by post

Anyone can request to vote by post, instead of going to a polling station, providing you appear on the electoral register. If you wish to vote by post, you can complete an application form below.

If you don't have access to a printer, then please contact us and we will post one to you.

Voting by proxy

A proxy vote means that you appoint someone to vote on your behalf if you are unable to get to the polling station on Election Day, providing you appear on the electoral register.

If you wish to appoint someone to vote on your behalf, you can complete an application form below.
